The July 25 celebration at Centennial Park will feature performers who were all raised in Central Saanich, organizers say, making the event both a milestone celebration and a showcase of local talent. Headlining the festivities is Nick La Riviere & The Best Laid Plans, known for blending New Orleans-inspired party music with funk, R&B and pop influences. Frontman Nick La Riviere, a graduate of Stelly’s Secondary School, credits the school’s music program as an early inspiration. La Riviere also serves as musical director for the Victoria Rock Choir, a 130-member vocal ensemble that will also perform during the anniversary event.
