Victoria Apple Store a go? After years of speculation, sources say yes
https://victoria.citified.ca/news/mayfair-shopping-centre-victoria-apple-store-a-go-after-years-of-speculation-sources-say-yes/ (https://victoria.citified.ca/news/mayfair-shopping-centre-victoria-apple-store-a-go-after-years-of-speculation-sources-say-yes/)

Victoria's Mayfair Shopping Centre could soon be home to Vancouver Island's first Apple Store. Multiple sources say the Cupertino, California-based tech giant plans to open its 30th Canadian outlet as part of the retail hub's $72 million expansion and modernization project underway since mid-2016. With recent rumours of an Island-bound Apple Store swirling about since last summer, it appeared the gig was up last fall when media reports hinted at the prospect of substance to the chatter. Mayfair representatives, however, neither refuted nor supported such claims. But now industry insiders are giving the nod to the store's arrival amid Apple's legendary new product and retail location secrecy. P. North posted topic Victoria Bakeries that don't use preservatives?

lpoutine,

P. North has just posted a new topic entitled "Victoria Bakeries that don't use preservatives?" in forum "Food and Dining, Hotel and Hospitality Industry Discussions".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am looking for a local bakery that does not use preservatives in their bread. I checked out Cobs bread but it turns out they are basically a McDonalds of bread franchises and load all of their products with BHA, and BHT as well as Silicone Dioxide.

A good loaf of pure Pumpernickel is what I am looking for.

Are their any "Natural" Bakeries in Victoria that make bread without any chemical preservatives? I can't have any of that in my diet.

Gary H posted topic Best Buy's complete interior renovation

lpoutine,

Gary H has just posted a new topic entitled "Best Buy's complete interior renovation" in forum "Retail Establishments & Grocery Markets".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, I hadn't been to the Uptown Best Buy in awhile and it's like a completely different store. The interior is really nice. There are lots of vendor specific product displays that are very well designed and seem integrated into the design theme of the overall store. The black ceiling and LED lights look great vs. the HID lamps they were using before. Oh, and the carpeted floors are raised so all the kiosk wiring is hidden under the floors. Definitely worth checking out!

Oh yeah, and that LG OLED TV (the Signature TV W) on display is as thin as it looks on the back too - and has a five figure price tag!

But first, here is what it looked like early last year:

And now for the reno, note the Guitar Center like musical instruments room has been reduced to more of a memorial...

Star Dust posted topic Victoria Restaurant Inspections

lpoutine,

Star Dust has just posted a new topic entitled "Victoria Restaurant Inspections" in forum "Food and Dining, Hotel and Hospitality Industry Discussions".

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Before I go out to eat anywhere in Victoria, I always make sure to take advantage of the Vancouver Island Health Authority's online Health Inspection Reports.

This is an Excellent website feature that anyone who dines out frequently in Victoria, or anywhere on Vancouver Island for that matter can access and review health inspections of every single restaurant, pub, bar, or business that sells food on the entire island.

Keep in mind when reviewing the site that almost every establishment in Victoria or on Vancouver Island has had Violations at some point or other. Some have had repeat violations, while others have had minor and infrequent violations, and some have actually be closed down by VIHA.

My personal rule is to frequent the establishments with the least amount of violations, or with the lowest hazard rating of violations. This way it gives me as a person who eats out often a great insight into how each restaurant or place of business is operated in regards to food safety and sanitation, and helps keep me safer when eating out.

You can easily tell when reading the reports which business's take the inspections seriously, and which ones don't. My advice is to not give your business to eating establishments with multiple Violations.

If you have never visited the site, or have never heard of it I will post the link below.

Enjoy, and please do give your feedback.

Cheers,

https://www.oakbaynews.com/news/murdoch-to-run (https://www.oakbaynews.com/news/murdoch-to-run) Councillor Kevin Murdoch will challenge incumbent mayor Nils Jensen in 2018. Jensen has already overcome conservative-orientated challengers from council in both the 2011 and 2014 mayoral elections. Can he do it again?
