After 7 months of haggling with the City of Victoria, we finally got our building permit, but now our contractor has "family issues" and can not commit. It's quite a big job: we are extending the entire west wall of our home by 5 feet which means adding a shed roof and work on footings. Also a complete kitchen and bathroom reno. We evicted our downstairs tenant and have begun some demolition, so we are just a tad stressed.

Been indulging in ice cream this summer, and have landed on Island Farms Extreme Moose Tracks as my so-far most preferred combination of price and chocolate. Udder Guys, Haagen Dazs, Ben & Jerry - which of these can match or better Moose Tracks for good dark chocolate, even if you get a lot less quantity for the price. Are there other brands to try, that can be bought in the CRD? Thanks. Slurp.

Ron Buchan was the CAO of the District in 2011 when the council in question was elected. The subsequent three year term saw considerable turmoil at the North Saanich municipal hall, including mediation between councillors and the District's staff in November, 2012.
Mayor Alice Finall, who was mayor during the period in question, said this week the current council agreed to pay Buchan to compensate him for that treatment by the last council.
"Compensation was offered to (Buchan) for his treatment at the hands of previous council," Finall read from a statement on July 18.

Just saw this on the revamped Roundhouse Marketplace web site. The next phase of Bayview Place, Lot 4, is for sale. This is the seniors and residential development we've known about for some time.
