Had nver heard ogf these guys unitl Mrs ASE asked me today to stop by and grab two Dole Whip Cups - whatever the hell those were. Turns out they are these semi-frozen desserts that look like slushies. Apprently they taste great because she's hooked.

Had to go to London Drugs anyway so no problems says me. And.....wow. Standing and then sitting in a forty minute lineup to get her stuff I noticed a scrumptious sounding farmer brekkie wrap on the menu which sounded pretty good. It wasn't. It was GREAT. Probably the best breakfast wrap I've ever had at least in Victoria. From a non-descript "greasy spoon" kiosk. In a mall well known for being "underutilized" shall we say. But not these guys - the lineup was crazy stupid and never ending from before I got there until after I left.

Don't know anything about them or whether this is the only outlet in the region but if you're in the neighborhood all the thumb's up in the world for that wrap and from the way the various dogs were flying out of that place I'm guessing they're pretty good too:

Check out the Victoria Rock and Gem ShowThe Victoria Lapidary and Mineral Society is hosting their annual Victoria Rock and Gem Show, at the DaVinci Centre Friday to Sunday (March 15 to 17)

More than a dozen of Western Canada's best-known gem and mineral dealers, jewellers and lapidary artists will be in attendance.

Expect to find jewelry, beads, as well as demonstrations and showcases at the three-day show.

The society is one of the oldest non-profit hobby clubs in British Columbia, with members consisting of amateur rockhounds, artisans, jewellers and miners of all ages.

The non-profit society also offers up to two $1,000 bursaries for students registered in an earth sciences program at a public post-secondary educational institution located in B.C.

Admission is $5 adults, $4 students and seniors, $12 family of four and free for children 12 and under. The event runs noon to 8 p.m. Mar. 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mar. 16 and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mar. 17 at Da Vinci Centre, 195 Bay St.

Not an eatery per se but a fresh produce grocery market about a click south of Duncan right on the highway on your right as you approach the town from the south.

While the market produce is fantastic, and includes a 40% off after 4pm discounted produce plan, this shout out is for the attached deli: wow to the food and wow to the prices. Everything is made fresh to order and the prices are crazy reasonable. It seats maybe 10-12 customers (its mostly take out but you can order and grab one of the few seats/tables). The cost for a breakfast that will fill even me up was $9.

Yesterday while scouting the Cowichan River for an upcoming fishing weekend we stopped in for a late afternoon bite. Ordered a very filling supremely good tasting Hungarian salami with lettuce, cheese, mayo and mustard sandwich on marbled rye bread (right out of the oven), a huge crunchy garlic dill pickle (gotta have a good crunch!), a medium bag of Old Dutch cheese nacho chips and large local bottled water; that was all of $11. Huge recommend for both the market and the deli especially.....
