Hello VV'ers, A few months ago we launched an initiative called Block x Block where people or organizations can submit a block of their neighbourhood for us and an architecture team to reimagine. The ground rules are simple: 1. It must reasonably conform to the existing policy context.2. Design priority will be given to everything before the private car.3. It will benefit the whole, not the aggregated individual property interests.4. Buildout has to be possible within a 15 year time horizon, or less.5. It must be bold, fun, and designed to inspire. We have just opened up the next round and are working with Diamond Schmitt Architects (dsai.ca) on the design. If you have a block that you think could use some imagination, we encourage you to submit a response for consideration. KPL James Architecture, which is one of (if not the) oldest architectural firms in Victoria has rebranded as Continuum Architecture:
We at KPL James Architecture are celebrating our 110th year in business with new partners and a new company name: Continuum Architecture.
Our firm has always had the partners' names or initials in the masthead, but this time, we want a name we won't have to change again.
We'd like to recognize the retirement of our long-time senior partner John Pettigrew. We'll keep John close by as a special consultant and advisor. Brian Lord and I remain as the firms' Senior Partners. I'd also like to officially announce and welcome our two new partners - Wil Wiens and Jeremy Beintema. We've been working with Jeremy and Wil for some time now and we know how talented they are.
Continuum speaks to our strong legacy, but with a focus on what's ahead. We at Continuum have great confidence in our future and are looking forward with anticipation to the next 110 years.
We continue to be located in downtown Victoria's historic Market Square, surrounded by buildings that are as old as the company. Our phone number stays the same, but our web and email addresses have been updated. Our new details are all online, at www.continuumarchitecture.ca, and our new email format can be found in my signature below.
